Crescendo Music and Dance

The Salvation Army Torrance Corps offers affordable music and dance education to children and adults of all levels of experience through Crescendo Music and Dance, located at The Salvation Army in the Hunt Center for Performing Arts building. Crescendo offers individual private music lessons, band ensembles, and dance classes starting soon. Crescendo staff strive to provide the best music and dance education possible for all students, knowing that studies show benefits of students learning how to play an instrument.

CLASSES INCLUDE:

  • Private lessons available
  • Dance Classes (Coming Soon)
  • Nine individual soundproof practice/teaching rooms, keyboard lab, and dance studio.

Why take a music class?

Music education provides students with much more than simply music appreciation: it helps their brain and language development, memorization, coordination, imagination, and discipline -- in short it helps them be better students! Many local public schools have cut music programs due to budget pressures, leaving a potential for a significant gap in the education curriculum.

LESSON RATES & GENERAL INFORMATION

  • Every student receives a free trial lesson!
  • Lessons start as low as $30 per 30 minute session. 
  • Music lessons are available Monday–Thursday, 2–8pm.

Crescendo All-Stars Jazz Band

MIDDLE & HIGH SCHOOL JAZZ BANDS
Directed by Tim Nail, the Middle School and High School Jazz bands are made up of students from around the South Bay. Middle School students will learn to play in a variety of different jazz styles in an exciting big band setting. The High School level Crescendo Jazz All-Stars focus on the classic big band literature of Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Benny Carter and more!

Rent Rehearsal or Performance Space

Instructional and rehearsal space can be rented at Crescendo, pending availability of the space. We have a dance studio which can be rented for individuals and groups as well as private rehearsal studios which can be rented.
