Why get involved?

When you make a gift—money, time, or energy—to The Salvation Army Torrance Corps, your gift becomes grounded in the reputation, trust and credibility of The Salvation Army—which is well known for its continuing efforts of providing relief to those in need.

The programs below currently need the most support to ensure their success. Any gift will make an impact in our community.

  • Stillman Sawyer Services Center (Social Services)

When you give to Stillman, you directly impact the amount and quality of food we can serve the community. Your contribution will also work towards helping our clients with housing and job assistance.

  • Torrance Corps Scholarships

Every life deserves to shine. No one in need is turned away from the life-changing opportunities at The Torrance Corps through our Scholarship Program.  100% of the funds raised assists in providing our youth in need with access to music classes, educational programs, and summer camp. When you give locally, you ensure that the people in the communities of Torrance, Lomita, Harbor City, Carson, and Wilmington get the help they need.

  • General Fund

General Donations help us keep the lights on. From the hiring of staff, to purchasing food for our youth programs, to changing the light bulbs, your support is crucial to help us help others.

Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities

We are looking for energetic and enthusiastic volunteers who can assist during our Summer Camp program. Our program goal is to create a positive environment that promotes self-confidence and self-esteem through the experiences we provide.

This is a great place to gain experience working with children, improve communication and people skills. High school and college students can volunteer to receive service learning for their school.

Help keep kids on track in school! We need tutors for students in Kindergarten–5th grade in all subjects including writing skills, reading, math and science. All learning materials, both printed and digital, are provided. Tutoring hours are Monday–Friday, 2–6:30PM, when school is in session.

Volunteers will assist in various duties in the Stillman Sawyer Family Service Center.
