The Salvation Army Torrance Corps offers affordable music and dance education to children and adults of all levels of experience through its Crescendo School of Music and Dance, located at The Salvation Army in the Hunt Center for Performing Arts building. Crescendo offers individual private, shared, and group music lessons, Mommy & Me toddler rhythm classes, band ensembles, and dance classes. Crescendo staff strive to provide the best music and dance education possible for all students, knowing that studies show benefits of students learning how to play an instrument.
Music education provides students with much more than simply music appreciation: it helps their brain and language development, memorization, coordination, imagination, and discipline -- in short it helps them be better students! Many local public schools have cut music programs due to budget pressures, leaving a potential for a significant gap in the education curriculum.
Lessons start as low as $20 per 50 minute session. Plus, every student receives a free trial lesson!
Scholarships are also available for students who qualify. Download a Scholarship Application.
Music Does It's “Music Meets Wellness” program has activities designed especially for students with Autism and Related Needs. Group or individual custom-designed activities target goals that may include speech, behavior, social and motor skills development.
The program takes place in a dedicated "Session Studio 6" complete with acoustic Yamaha Studio Piano, and Vocal Amp system (for non-verbal speech development). Participants can combine music and movement in the spacious Dance Studio, “rock out” on a full drum set in the Percussion Lab, or take pride during a structured, Rancer Piano Method Session in reading music while playing songs on a Grand Piano in the Piano Lab also designed for 7 students to enjoy building their skills the musical way!
We offer a variety of musical instrument training for charter school students, including private, shared and group lessons. Every student receives a free trial lesson!
